Full name:
OMRON Asthma Diary
OMRON Asthma Diary
Brief description:
The OMRON Asthma Diary app supports daily asthma tracking, by recording asthma symptoms, condition and medications. Users can purchase a supplementary OMRON Wheeze Sensor which would automatically track your wheeze detection history onto the app. Alternatively, the app can be used on its own. Users can manually record peak flow, although this does not detect wheezing. Users can also check medication status week-by-week. The app has an easy-to-understand user display and interface; users can also view medication statuses in a monthly calendar format. Moreover, there is a Report functionality within the app which shows daily medications and symptoms. This can be shown to health providers to describe the management of one’s asthma condition.

Brief description:
App allows user to self-monitor their medication intake (basic customisations on doses), list of symptoms and effects, and events linked towards asthma. This monitoring of behaviour helps the user understand what may trigger asthma, and create an action plan. There are reminder systems to prompt the user to log their symptoms and medication intake; this behavioural practice shall help in habit formation to better monitor their asthma.

Behaviour change content of the intervention (e.g. what adherence barriers and facilitators are targeted, what behaviour change techniques it includes):
1.2 problem solving (Analyse, or prompt the person to analyse, factors influencing the behaviour and generate or select strategies that include overcoming barriers and/or increasing facilitators (includes ‘Relapse Prevention’ and ‘Coping Planning’). 1.4 Action planning (prompt detailed planning of performance of the behaviour (must include at least one of context, frequency, duration and intensity). Context may be environmental (physical or social) or internal (physical, emotional or cognitive) (includes ‘Implementation Intentions’). 2.1 Monitoring of behaviour by others without feedback (Observe or record behaviour with the person’s knowledge as part of a behaviour change strategy). 2.3 Self-monitoring of behaviour (Establish a method for the person to monitor and record their behaviour(s) as part of a behaviour change strategy). 2.5 Monitoring of outcome(s) of behaviour without feedback (Observe or record outcomes of behaviour with the person’s knowledge as part of a behaviour change strategy). 7.1 Prompt/cues (Introduce or define environmental or social stimulus with the purpose of prompting or cueing the behaviour. The prompt or cue would normally occur at the time or place performance). 8.1 Behavioural practice/rehearsal (Prompt practice or rehearsal of the performance of the behaviour one or more times in a context or at a time when the performance may not be necessary, in order to increase habit and skill). 8.3 Habit formation (Prompt rehearsal and repetition of the behaviour in the same context repeatedly so that the context elicits the behaviour).
